Steve Matthews

Steve joined Cleveland Constabulary in 1986 having served in the Army since leaving school in 1979, beginning his police career at Stockton.

Since that time he has worked throughout the force as a response officer and part of a neighbourhood team, as a district Detective in Hartlepool and as part of the forces organised crime team. He is still an operational" Cop" presently working as a tutor constable at Stockton.

In relation to his Federation duties Steve was the CID rep' at Hartlepool during 2004/5 and on moving back to Stockton in 2006, became the operational Federation representative for that district.

He was elected Chairman of the Constables Branch Board on his return to the Board and at the same time was also elected Vice Chairman of the Joint Branch Board.

Steve was elected Chairman of Cleveland Joint Branch Board at the beginning of 2007.

He is a discipline friend and trained in Health and safety issues.

Steve is married to a serving police officer and has a young family.
